The Undertaker has been receiving widespread praise for his recent work as Lucha Libre AAA’s head booker. Meanwhile, the Triple H-led creative team has lately drawn criticism from viewers for producing lackluster storylines.
Lucha Libre AAA, under The Phenom’s creative leadership, recently delivered one of the most compelling feuds of the year, featuring El Grande Americano (Ludwig Kaiser) and the Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable). Kaiser and Gable tore the house down with their Mask vs. Mask Match at Noche de Los Grandes 2026.
WWE failed to capitalize on the potential of top storylines like Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton and Rhea Ripley vs. Jade Cargill on the Road to WrestleMania 42. The Game & Co. is also receiving flak for its booking of prominent wrestlers, such as LA Knight and Bayley.
Booker T recently invited The Undertaker to his Hall of Fame podcast. During the conversation, The Phenom discussed one of the biggest flaws of WWE’s current product. The 61-year-old said the major problem was that modern-day superstars focused on delivering athletic performances inside the ring to capture fans’ attention instead of aiming to narrate a solid story with their matches.
The former WWE Champion disclosed that he had spoken to higher-ups in the sports entertainment juggernaut about the importance of storytelling and superstars’ health.
They’re doing video game-type stuff in the ring. I think (…) sometimes, it’s a curse. They’re so athletic, and they rely so much on that aspect that they forget the most important aspect of what we do, and that is storytell [sic]. I’ve mentioned it to different people high-up, and it’s like ‘Hey, we can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube.’ I think at some point we [sic] have to.”

Rey Fenix joined WWE last year after departing AEW. Fans had high hopes for him in the sports entertainment juggernaut, and he had a solid start, facing the Original El Grande Americano at WrestleMania 41. However, Fenix has arguably failed to impress fans due to underwhelming booking.
The former AEW star recently bounced back with a huge win in Lucha Libre AAA. At Noche de Los Grandes, Fenix defeated Laredo Kid for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship in a stellar match.
This past week on SmackDown, Fenix defended his gold for the first time when he battled Axiom. The contest also marked the first time the prestigious title was defended on WWE TV.
On X, The Undertaker reacted to Fenix’s win. He congratulated the AAA World Cruiserweight Champion and praised him for proudly representing the Mexican promotion on the sports entertainment juggernaut’s programming.
The Undertaker-led creative team will now shift its focus to AAA Triplemania 34, which will take place in September 2026.
